the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for providing and ensuring the provision of optimum care to promote the well being of each individual resident. 


• Performs nursing skills in accordance to the standards of nursing practice as outlined by 
the College of Nurses 
• Assesses, implements, evaluates, reports and documents actions to affect positive 
outcomes related to the residents’ health 
• Responsible and accountable for the overall functioning of the unit 
• Performs delegated tasks safely and effectively 
• Ensures nursing staff perform assigned tasks and duties 
• Shares responsibility and accountability for the overall functioning of the unit 
• Responsible for facilitating medical services, other professional services, support 
services and external agencies ensuring continuity with community linkages 
• Participates as required in the formulation and review of policies and procedures, job 
routines, performance appraisals, goals and objectives 
• The CQI/Risk Management process will be used to evaluate and ensure follow-up 
• Supervises the unit staff to ensure performance of assigned tasks and duties 
• Participates in evaluation and discipline of staff 
• Responsible for coordination and facilitating interdisciplinary care conferences and 
ensuring implementation of outcomes 
• Required to promote wellness as a concept of living 


• Must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. 
O. Reg 79/10, s. 46 
• Experience in Long Term Care (Gerontology) setting is preferred 
• Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education 
• Must be computer literate 
• Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
